It’s Friday the 13th, so I’m featuring 13 social connections you should make this week. If you’re reading this, I know you have an internet connection and you know that there is good information out there. Did you know that there are other massage therapists out there? You may work alone, but you aren’t really alone. So here we go:
Yes , everyone’s on Facebook, but there are a couple of groups you should “Like” and participate in:
Being a Massage Therapist – Susan Epperly leads some really good discussions and you’ll learn some great tips. Hopefully, you’ll share some as well.

Massage Nerd – Great massage information and videos.

American Massage Therapy Association – keep up to date with what’s going on with the AMTA

Massage Practice Builder – another good source of massage related tips and discussion

Writing a Blue Streak – my favorite blog has a Facebook page.

You can also find and connect with other massage therapists in your area, or an area you plan to relocate to.
Do you tweet? With the proper use of lists, you can make good use of your twitter time. I follow pretty much anyone who follows me that isn’t a) Porn related or b) only following to get more followers to push people to their icky affiliate-links-so-we-steal-articles websites. I organize everything with lists, so I can see what’s going on with local businesses, massage therapists, the Dalai Lama (in my ‘good stuff’ list).
Here are some people you’ll find on twitter
ABMP – http://twitter.com/ABMPmassage
Erik Dalton – http://twitter.com/dalton_bodywork
World Massage conference – http://twitter.com/worldmassage
Laura Allen – http://twitter.com/LauraAllenMT
Whitney Lowe – http://twitter.com/whitlowe
Massage therapist association of British Columbia – http://twitter.com/massagetherapy
Anatomy Trains – http://twitter.com/AnatomyTrains
Massage Magazine – http://twitter.com/massagemag
#MassageChat
I’ve participated in a couple of twitter chats and they were fun and informative. This gave me the idea that maybe a massage chat would be good.
Would anyone be interested in a weekly/biweekly/monthly massage chat on twitter? If so, how often and what day of the week and time of day would work best? I would be willing to host it and kick things off, but only if I’m not the only person there.
Let me know in the comments!
