Weekly Round-up Now What? Edition

StarfishI spent the day at the coast last weekend.  This week, I’ve felt a bit like the starfish in this picture.  The tide has gone out and I’m just clinging to the rocks waiting for it to come back in.  And hoping some dude doesn’t pluck me off my safe rock and dry me out in the sun.

But you can’t just cling to the rock and hope for the best.  You’ve got to make your way out to the safer rocks, where the crazy dude with the dried starfish collection can’t get to you.  Where there’s lots of tide action bringing in fresh food bits and other smart, interesting starfish to hang out with.  Because, the tide will always go out, leaving you clinging to a rock.  But the tide also comes back in and you want to be there.

Serendipity

You know how when you’re facing a problem, some information you need just seems to show up?  That’s how it’s been this week.  I talked about SWOT in Monday’s post and I swear, my RSS feed has been serving up one relevant blog post after another.

Where do you find inspiration for business ideas?  You can’t just look at the massage industry or you’ll end up with a ‘Me too’ product.  By looking outside, you’ll find new ideas and approaches.  They call it Cross Pollination.  Try it.  Copyblogger has a nice article on where to go for ideas.

Sometimes, bad stuff happens.  When those bad things happen, you just have to admit, that indeed, this thing sucks.

Allissa at Writing a Blue Streak reminded me of a great Will Smith interview.  Neither Will nor Allissa is afraid to die on a treadmill.  You get to decide who you want to be.  Success is a choice. And by the way, no one took her up on an offer to help formulate a Unique Selling Proposition? It’s FREE, fer cryin’ out loud.  You won’t find a better deal.  Now get on over there and read this post.

The weekly Seth, wherein Seth Godin tells us that Momentum can be good:

Deep down, this potential for an overwhelming response alerts the lizard brain and we hold back. We’re afraid of being part of something that feels like it might be too big for us.

Hint: it probably isn’t.
